4 Things You Must Do in Kiev!

Kiev, or Kyiv as it’s known locally, is a stunningly beautiful, yet often overlooked city. Ancient and modern in equal measure, and boasting a young, cheeky and rebellious atmosphere, teamed with gorgeous architecture and delicious food (although the famous chicken dish that may come to mind isn’t actually from Kiev!), this sprawling metropolis has a lot to offer visitors and residents alike. With that in mind, we’ve compiled a list of 4 things you absolutely must do whilst in Kiev, the capital city of Ukraine

Kiev1. Visit the Museum of One Street – Andriyivsky Descent, a steep cobbled street is one of the most beautiful and historic places in Kiev. The Museum of One Street tells the incredible story of this ever-changing city through the incredible history of this single cobbled street. Packed full of stunning buildings, wonderful shops, local artisans and historical landmarks, this is certainly no ordinary street.

2. Take a walk – Kiev contains a great choice of parks and gardens to meander through and while away an afternoon. The first park in Kiev was built in 1631 and Kievans have since spent much of their time dancing, walking and laughing their way through these beautiful urban hideaways. Top tip: Lover’s Bridge is the perfect place to take your loved one for a romantic surprise!

3. Visit the Babushka’s – the backbone of this glorious country, Babushka’s are hard working ladies who typically sell delicious fruits and vegetables at local markets. Be warned – haggling is frowned upon, but once you take a bite of their homemade food or local produce you’ll be offering to pay extra for that sumptuous taste!

4. Head to the Museum of Miniatures – it’s not often that we list 2 museums on our list, but just this once we couldn’t resist! If you’re looking to be amazed, the Museum of Miniatures won’t disappoint. Full of mind-boggling tiny treasures, this incredible muse-um is sure to thrill each member of the family.

But that’s not all! This wonderful city has a whole lot more to offer, so why not go and explore it for yourself! Whilst you’re there, your friends and family can call you cheaply and keep up-to-date with your Ukrainian adventures through Cherry Call; simply give them the international dialling code of 00380 and point them in the direction of our website!
